A man from Australia that leaped past a barrier and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was sentenced to more than a week in detention for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority stated to news outlets.

Wen pushed through camera crews and rushed toward the performer and artist, who was participating in the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on November 13. Co-star Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at the pop star's Australian show in June this year.

The event caused anger in Singapore, with many claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.

The singer has spoken of suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in the UK city in several years ago took the lives of 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.

During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere on two occasions, according to local news sources.

He then made a another effort to jump the barricades. Event security stopped him and restrained him.

The man subsequently shared videos expressing gratitude to the star for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."

Police detained him the following day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Court Judge Christopher Goh was cited by Channel News Asia as stating that the man sought attention, adding that he was incorrect to assume he would not suffer any consequences.

The singer has not addressed the situation.

Erivo spoke about the event to a media outlet, stating that she "simply desired to make sure my co-star was protected."

"I believe he didn't intend us harm, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I wanted to make sure that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she said.
