Jurgen Klopp states a return to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell featuring a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight last season, though countless followers who revere Klopp would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead another team in England. Which implies in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”

“I’m 58, which suggests I could make the decision in a few years, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, crediting him for the adjustments which secured the championship last campaign. The team has suffered four consecutive matches across various tournaments following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion that it might signal a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. Jota was killed in a road accident with his brother in July.

“How do you replace a person like him? It’s not about his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the dressing room without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Coping with it emotionally is challenging. Unbearable.”
