Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run was ended by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, however can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, fans and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games over time - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

My son told me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have got plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's home record, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
